Oakley Capital Private Equity comprises three mid-market private equity funds with €1.5 billion of commitments, investing primarily in the UK and Western Europe. Oakley’s first fund was raised in 2007 and is an upper quartile performer for its vintage. Fund II was raised in 2013 and deployed capital rapidly such that the fund is now essentially fully invested, with one full exit to date. Oakley has a uniquely entrepreneurial approach stemming from its foundations. Often, Oakley buys companies which are owned by families, founders or entrepreneurial managers, who are attracted by our empathetic approach. At times, we have cultivated relationships with them over many years, becoming a preferred acquirer. Oakley typically invests in sectors that are growing or where consolidation is taking place, investing in both performing and under-performing companies, supporting buy and build strategies, rapid growth, or businesses undergoing significant operational or strategic change. We are comfortable with complexity, having invested in businesses that other private equity firms may regard too challenging to undertake. By investing in a diverse range of portfolio companies, Oakley’s objective is to work proactively with investee management teams, together with other stakeholders, to create substantial value for the Funds’ investors. Oakley has strong credentials and networks in the digital consumer and TMT sectors, having successfully invested in these areas previously. There is strong representation from both of these sectors in the Funds. The Funds have a strong investor base with high quality institutional and private individuals participating alongside the Funds’ largest investor, Oakley Capital Investments Limited.
