About Satish Joshi

I was appointed as Director Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology in April 2019. I completed my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Government Engineering College Ujjain in 1980. I graduated from 25th batch of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Training School Mumbai. I have also acquired MBA from Institute of Management Studies Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Indore. I joined BARC Mumbai in the year 1982 after graduating from BARC Training School and later transferred to RRCAT in the year 1986 from BARC. I was one of the few scientists who came from BARC to set up the Centre for Advanced Technology at Indore. I have many advanced technological accomplishments which includes indigenous development of cryo-refrigerator turbo molecular pumps UHV devices. I have set up a world class facility for developing super conducting radio frequency cavities for the high power proton accelerator programs of DAE (Department of Atomic Energy). I have also worked as a visiting scientist at High Energy Accelerator Organization KEK Japan during 2000-2001. I was appointed as an apex Project Coordinator for R&D Activities for high power proton Accelerator for pulsed Spallation Neutron Source proposed at RRCAT Indore. Spallation Neutron Source program will be an advanced research facility at RRCAT Indore for material science including research program for DAE long term program of Thorium utilization for energy security. I had the pleasure to be a Technical Coordinator of India Institute Fermi Lab (USA) Collaboration (IIFC) Member of Asian Committee for Future Accelerators (ACFA) and also member of Apex Committee for Accelerator Development in India. International Exposure: 2016-2019: Technical Coordinator from DAE for Indian Institutions & Fermilab Collaboration. 2008-2015: Visited Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory for 3 months in 2008 and one month in 2010 to work on developmental activities related to SCRF cavity technology under Indian institution-Fermi lab collaborative program. 2002-2007: Visited for short duration to attend meeting and conferences to Japan Korea Australia Taiwan United Kingdom China 2000-2001: Worked for one year as visiting scientist at High Energy Accelerator Research Organization(KEK) Tsukuba Japan for design of proton LINAC structure.
