About Satoshi Otake

After graduating from university, I joined Nomura Research Institute, Ltd.(NRI, formerly Nomura Computer Systems Co, Ltd.) in April 1985. Responsible for the planning, design, development, implementation, and operation support of back office systems for the overseas subsidiaries of a major securities company for 15 years, providing solutions that applied the latest technology to systems for the overseas subsidiaries of the same major securities companies. In 1989, I stayed in UK to join classes for studying English for three months. I spent five years in Hong Kong and Singapore from 1993 to for my assignment of IT support for my customer's subsidiaries in Hong Kong and Singapore. In I was assigned to the NRI's international business division, where I was responsible for the management and support of the NRI's overseas subsidiaries, learning the basics of business management and instructional know-how, and in 2004, I became the general manager of NRI's systems development department for Japanese financial institutions, particularly I contributed in accumulating offshore development management know-how, especially in China and India. In 2006, I was appointed President of the NRI's Singapore subsidiary. I was involved in business and budget planning, company's performance management, new business development, introducing new internal rules, implementation of personnel and salary system, and overseas M&A (exploration, negotiation, due diligence and post-acquisition management) and so on. In 2012, I was appointed NRI's regional head of APAC. After returning to Japan in 2015, I was responsible for providing management support for the NRI's overseas subsidiaries in the industrial systems business, particularly I contributed to the stabilization and improvement of business performance by supporting the management of overseas acquired subsidiaries. He took early retirement from Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. in March 2019 and joined Green Sun Japan K.K. in April 2019 as a business coach to help Japanese SME business owners improve their management skills.
