Sattar “Sam” Salimi – Managing Director of Lean Gulf Institute LGI’s Managing Director and Founder. Previously, Sam was a Director of innovation for the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) affiliated MEP network and held corporate positions in USA fortune 500 companies such as Intel Corp, Hughes Aircraft/Boeing, and Honeywell. He has a keen ability to define, implement and refine processes, reduce waste and improve operational effectiveness. On more than one occasion, Sam has been responsible for all aspects of enterprise start-up from site selection and construction through attainment of high volume production goals. He assembled investors for an unparalleled endeavor in the Gulf: setting up and overseeing the design, construction and operation of a printing ink production facility located in the UAE based on Lean manufacturing. The time from conception to world-class production was unprecedented in the region and attracted attention in the Gulf and internationally. Sam holds an Engineering degree from Boston University and completed numerous post graduate courses. He has the professional designation of Lean Sensei through the SME, AME, and the Shingo Prize organizations and Lean Green Certification through Purdue University. He also secured the rights to translate select Lean books into Arabic and led the translation efforts.
