About Satu Valo

I am a geneticist working with clinical interpretation of whole exome sequencing data and rare inherited disease diagnostics. Fascination towards medical genetics has driven me over the course of my work. I am passionate about working with genetic diagnostics in aim to find answers to patients and their families. I have had the opportunity of working in several different labs where I have gained hands-on experience on a variety of methods in molecular genetics. In my PhD research I focused on epigenetic changes in hereditary colorectal cancer. I have been responsible for establishing new projects, consulting clinicians, handling and analyzing data and presenting results. I work well independently but enjoy working as a part of a team. My work keeps me motivated everyday!
