The world watches from the stand as perhaps the most iconic species on the planet slides inexorably toward extinction, not because we are incapable of saving it, but because we appear stymied by human behavior that values the idea of the tiger more than the animal itself."- Dr. Alan Rabinowitz This was a quote that I discovered summarizing years of research pertaining to tiger conservation and the field of conservation biology as a whole that I have carried with me with my interest and passion for ecology and conservation biology. I developed an affinity for scientific research in the natural resources fields at a very young age when I was assigned a research project on endangered animals in elementary school. Through this research project, I discovered the joys of learning about a topic that I cared about and was motivated to explore. From that point on, I have been increasingly involved in conservation and natural resources-related activities. Specifically, I work as a volunteer naturalist at Richardson Nature Center, helping to lead nature-related activities with visitors and teach a sense of nature appreciation. Additionally, I have conducted independent research in the field of conservation biology and lead several ecology and environmental-oriented activities at Minnetonka High School.
