About Savannah Degroot
As someone who identifies as queer and experienced extensive homelessness at a young age, I can understand the societal struggles of those who have been marginalized by the same experiences. I firmly believe these experiences have made me who I am today - a strong leader passionate about their communities and creating space for social change. My personal motto is "People Need People". This refers to the sheer human kindness I received while being a homeless high school student; the simple human interactions with people who believed in my success and allowed space for me to exist fully and unfiltered. It was these human interactions that saved my life (literally and figuratively) and that inspires me to give back to my communities. After attending a four-year university and realizing the struggle of being an over-involved student with 2 jobs, that passion has been coupled with a desire to help make college more user-friendly for all students.
