About Savannah Thompson

I graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2016 with a First Class Honours in History and Politics. During this time I studied for a term at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Following this, I graduated with a Distinction in the Master's program of ‘Violence, Terrorism and Security’ also from Queens University Belfast in 2017. I started with Fidelis Insurance in July 2017 as an Underwriting Assistant and assisted in setting up our London book of Property Catastrophe Reinsurance. I was promoted to Assistant Underwriter in April 2018 after moving over to our Bespoke and Specialty team and focussed on political risk and bespoke opportunities. I assisted in setting up and underwriting multiple lines of business in 2019 as we expanded our strategic product offering to include; energy, aviation and space in the hardening market. In March 2020 I was promoted to Underwriter and continue to work across all Bespoke and Specialty lines and was recently promoted to Head of Strategic Underwriting in August 2021. I work closely with our UK CUO and Head of Bespoke and Specialty (Re)insurance in this role, Richard Coulson. I was promoted to Head of Political Risk and Contract Frustration in 2023. My current underwriting focus is sovereign and sub sovereign non payment as well as Political Risks whilst I also am the point person and main underwriter on all large UK based strategic underwriting initiatives whether partnerships with MGA’s, our Pinewalk platform or innovative bespoke underwriting initiatives. I’m an avid golfer playing off 15, keen hiker at the weekend and enjoy yoga, pilates and spin classes during the week.
