About Savannah Yang

My research agenda centers around achieving excellence with equity in education, with a particular focus on identifying and addressing underrepresentation in gifted education and mathematics education, fostering talent development among underrepresented and minoritized students, and addressing achievement and excellence gaps in mathematics and science. Through the use of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods, I have explored these areas and collaborated with faculty members and graduate students to shed light on the experiences of underrepresented students and develop strategies to promote their success. I also possess strong expertise in various statistical techniques, including multilevel modeling, multi-level structural equation modeling, mixture modeling, structural equation modeling, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, latent class analysis, and regression analysis. These skills have been integral to my research projects and are complemented by my proficiency in qualitative data analysis methods, such as case study, content analysis, thematic analysis, and narrative analysis. I also hold a Qualitative and a Quantitative Research, Assessment, and Evaluation in Education certificates from Purdue University. I also have gained valuable experience in teaching and research. As a teaching and graduate assistant at the Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute (GER2I) at Purdue University, I had the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses and coordinate talent development programs for high-ability students. I am currently teaching an online graduate-level quantitative data analysis course at Purdue University as a limited-time lecturer. These experiences have equipped me with the skills necessary to excel in a research-oriented academic environment.
