About Saw Nwe

I’m a doctor, designer and consultant. I care about making services work better — for the people who use them, and the people who deliver them. I started my career working as a doctor in the NHS, on the frontline in emergency, community and mental health services. I understand the realities of delivering care within the complexity of the systems that shape it. I went on to study a Master’s in Healthcare and Design at Imperial College and the Royal College of Art, where I learned to approach these challenges using human-centred design and design thinking. I saw the power of designing with people from different backgrounds — including end users, clinical, design, product, regulatory and operations. I’ve led research into how parents access mental health support (which became the foundation for my startup, Aloe Health), and worked on a UKRI-funded project co-designing social prescribing services in Walsall, alongside local communities, VCSEs, researchers and designers. Now, as a Principal Consultant at Public Digital, I work with public and private sector organisations to make services work better — combining strategy, delivery and human-centred design to improve outcomes for both external users and internal teams. My design practice is grounded in understanding people, the world they’re in, and the systems they navigate. I get the most joy from working closely with teams, bringing together different perspectives to design and test ideas that work for people.
