About Saxon Wright-Casanova

Both the Nordics and Australia are places I care deeply about, and I am honored to have worked at both the Australian Embassy in Copenhagen (accredited to Denmark, Norway, and Iceland) and now the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra. Despite the geographic distance, the Australian-Nordic relationships are uniquely constructive, positive, and deep. It continues to be a joy to support these relationships. My research and practical experience have given me unique insights into the geographical fringes and geopolitical fault lines around the world. I have had the particular fortune of exploring regions such as the Arctic, Balkans, Caucasus regions, and Low Earth Orbit through my academic and professional experience. My extensive research into the Arctic has provided me with valuable insights into the region's geopolitical relevance, particularly regarding environmental concerns. Additionally, my experience researching the Balkans and Caucasus regions has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex political and cultural dynamics that shape these regions. In addition to my work on Earth, I have worked investigating the geopolitics of Space. Space exploration and the further development of orbital infrastructure adds a new vertical dimension to international relations as nations and private industry position themselves to take advantage of new economic and strategic opportunities and challenges. International relations, and most importantly the promotion of peaceful international relations, is something I am interested in and care deeply about. I am excited to continue pursuing opportunities to contribute to this field and leverage my skills and expertise to make a positive impact.
