About Scot Davis

I was just hired as Co-Head Wrestling Coach at Sandpoint High School in beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho, along with my longtime friend Jim Jackson, a coaching "legend" at Apple Valley and Shakopee High Schools in Minnesota. We both Rank #1 and #4 "All-Time" for "Career Coaching Victories." My wife and I own her late parents' house there on 80 acres of land. As a coach, I just completed my 49th year of coaching (43rd as a High School Head Coach) during the recently completed 2021-2022 wrestling season for the St. Cloud Crush (Minnesota) wrestling team, establishing a new program "Team Wins Record," going 22-5 on the season (the program started back in 1948). As a Teacher/Coach I retired from my teaching position at Owatonna High School (Owatonna, MN) in June of 2011. I have continued coaching though at several high schools since then. My current Career HS Coaching record is now 1205-209-4, extending my "All-Time" leading record for Career Coaching Victories in "Amateur Wrestling History." Beyond my teaching and coaching I have served on numerous committees over my many years to try to help and promote our great sport of wrestling, including NHSCA Idaho State Chairman (2019-2020), President of the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association (1991-1992), MHSL Wrestling Advisory Committee (1991-92), MWCA President-Elect (1990-91), MWCA Publicity Chairman (1993 to MN Chapter-NWHOF Vice-President (Programs) and Banquet Host for Minnesota Chapter-National Wrestling Hall of Fame (2004 to present), Region One Hall of Fame Selection Committee, 2001 USA verses Minnesota Dream Team Classic Committee held at Apple Valley High School, 1985 Chairman of the Minnesota vs Wisconsin High School All-Star Wrestling Classic; and others. I have written numerous articles to regarding the Sport of Wrestling to promote our great sport. My articles have appeared in major wrestling publications such as Wrestling USA Magazine, Amateur Wrestling News, WIN Magazine, The Guillotine-Minnesota's Wrestling Newspaper and The Crossface- Wisconsin's Wrestling Newspaper. I received the distinguished "Bob Dellinger Award," representing the "Outstanding Writer of Wrestling in the USA" in 1986. Beyond Writing, as a "Wrestling Coach," I have been honored with "National Wrestling Coach of the Year" honors 3 times (1998 NHSCA), 2007 (Wrestling USA Magazine and Runner-Up in 2006). I was also 2009 USA Dream Team Coach for the "Dream Team Classic," I have made16 Technique & Coaching DVD's on the market through Championship Productions at ChampionshipProductions.com.
