About Scot Duvall

As an avid gamer, I provide clients with a level of strategic thinking that they might not get elsewhere. I bring more than 30 years of experience in trademark and intellectual property law to my clients, working directly with business owners, General Counsel, VPs of Marketing, and CEOs. My approach to legal matters is both strategic and realistic. Whether a licensing deal, trademark application, cease and desist letter, or settlement of a dispute, I seek to achieve what the client wants, after discussing the options, benefits, and risks with them. My experience enables me to anticipate potential barriers that may stand in the way of client goals and to develop a solid plan to overcome them. My years of hands-on experience with the International Trademark Association (INTA) has kept me on the cutting edge of trademark law and policy. I've served on committees that have drafted and commented on federal trademark legislation and Trademark Office policies, and filed “friend of the court” briefs in significant cases. Perhaps my most impactful work was as a principal drafter of the federal Trademark Dilution Revision Act (signed into law in 2006), which established a new national standard for protecting famous trademarks. My INTA involvement also connects me with counsel worldwide, which benefits my clients.
