What Starts Here Changes the World"- More than a School Motto, a life challenge My name is Scott Atherton and I strive every day to change the Finance world through my analytical skills and interpersonal relationships. I graduated with a Finance Degree from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin in December 2015. I started my work career at Lockheed Martin the following February and have held 5 different roles in 9 years across multiple programs. These roles have seen me serve Lockheed as a Cost Accounting Reporter for Corporate Accounting, Business Management and Program Management Analysts for the F-35 Program and as a Cost Integration and Financial Reporting Analyst for a Development Program. In August 2021, I graduated with my Masters Degree in Business from the University of Texas in Arlington which helped me earn my current role as Finance Team Lead of the Cost Integration Earned Value team mentioned earlier. I have loved Financial data and statistics my entire life and using the numbers to tell a story and paint a picture of a cost impact or financial situation. At age 8 I kept myself entertained at my parent's garage sale by using a type writer they were trying to sell to type up fun stats and analysis for the Texas Rangers 2002 baseball team. At 13 years old I was introduced to the world of fantasy sports where I handmade my own player projections and brought a briefcase full of articles and projections to my first draft. My advisor at UT had me between Finance and Accounting tracks and it was my passion to present data in a professional way that lead me down the Finance path. In my last 1.5 years as being a Team Lead I've had the priviledge to lead dozens of workshops, training sessions and iron-sharpening sessions with the members of my team and the CAMs I work with and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to work with them to make the team better. I am proficient in Microsoft Office and have frequently been referred to as the "Excel Wizard" on several of my teams at Lockheed. Program wise, I have an advanced knowledge base of SAP, Deltek Cobra, Tableau, Empower and the other Microsoft Office programs including Excel. I have passed 2 CAM Certification Earned Value courses and have held a Secret Clearance my entire time at Lockheed without gaps in coverage. I love being able to step in to a job, learn at a fast-pace, and instantly work to make the team better through process improvements, data integrity growth or creating data models.
