Background
About Scott Brodersen
Currently developing micro services on the AWS platform using devOps methodology. Most recent skills development- Vue.js - using AWS CDK to define the infrastructure - using Github Actions and workflows to implement our CI/CD process Medium-recent skills development- token-based authentication strategies - implementing Lambda authorizers for API Gateway Over the last few years I've focused on developing AWS Lambda functions in Go with CloudWatch dashboards and alarms for monitoring. Lambdas typically consume HTTP requests or EventBridge events with an intermediary SQS queue. DynamoDB is used for storage. CloudFormation resources were defined using the Serverless platform. A few years ago I led a small team of developers that implemented an internal publishing platform for our public product documentation. The platform enables geographically-dispersed teams to independently contribute content to a cohesive product documentation site. Our continuous integration system provides automated testing of dev builds that are hosted internally and torn down after going to production. Writers are able to update the production site at any time without coordinating with other teams. The design of the publishing workflow was informed by my experience over 20 years of planning and coordinating multiple-guide documentation projects for enterprise software products. As a writer, my specialties were developing SDK guides for Java developers, Java API references (Javadoc), installation and administration guides, and developer guides for GUI-based tooling. My formal training was in civil engineering with a focus on structural analysis and design. My master's thesis validated a finite-element model of a physical flat-plate building structure under dynamic load. Learning how to learn was the most valuable skill that I developed during that time.
