About Scott Burrell

I like people. I have spent much of my adult life working with plants and teaching people. Beyond my current high school teaching (Richmond Technical Center, Richmond, VA), my professional experience has led me to author numerous magazine articles; appear on many television shows, and address audiences in many east coast states. Over my career, I have served as Horticulture Manager at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden; as Horticulture Specialist at Reynolds Community College, and as Horticulture Director for the Virginia Historical Society. I am well versed in estate management; classroom teaching on horticultural subjects; landscape, garden and greenhouse management where I supervised plant propagation of a wide diversity of plant types. I started and managed volunteer organizations at two of my work sites; managed employees, interns and volunteers at all three above mentioned sites; conducted successful research and presentations that resulted in grants, scholarships, and national program initiatives. I have authored over two dozen garden articles for various gardening magazines. As Horticulture Specialist for Reynolds Community College, I designed and implemented new landscape and garden elements for aesthetics and teaching use. I served on the National Board of Directors of the American Conifer Society for 5 years. I also like to fish, hike and read. Plan, pray and plant for a better world!
