About Scott Chapman

After spending 26years in retail Butchery owning businesses and managing for two large company's I always thought that was all I was ever going to be, but in 2007 I was lucky enough to gain employment with Rio Tinto Iron ore at their Tom Price mine site as a fixed plant operator. So I packed up the family wife Debra and children Ryan and Moniique and moved to Tom Price to start my new beginnings, and at the age of 44 I was like a sponge and very happy to be learning something new at my age.I didn't find the role of a fixed plant operator hard, putting my good work ethic and people skills I had gained over the past 26year to good use, this allowed me to move into an OJT role where I gained my Cert IV in Training & Assessing, from there I progressed into a Team Leaders role gaining my Cert II & in Mineral Processing.In 2009 I was given the opportunity to interview for a Supervisory role and was progressed to the role of Production Supervisor fixed plant gaining my Cert IV in Mineral Processing and a Diploma of Front Line Management.My leadership skills have now allowed me to move into the acting Superintendents role where I am able to gain valuable skills and experience which will help me in my progression to where I would like to be within the business.
