We work with companies in electric vehicle, solar, wind, geothermal, efficiency, biofuel, energy storage/battery tech, e-mobility, and urban planning. Through written, audio, video and other media, CleanTechnica helps facilitate connections for these companies that expedite the clean tech revolution, which is our stated mission. After founding CleanTechnica and serving as its Jack of All Trades, I hired Zach Shahan to be CEO in 2014 and founded Pono Home, a green home service that works inside homes and small businesses to provide energy and water efficiency through prioritizing appliance upgrades, thermal imaging, LED lighting, appliance maintenance, weatherization, high efficiency fixtures, and education about toxins in the home. I led this company through its early stages, growing from a garage startup to a company operating on 6 islands in Hawaii, as well as California and Nevada. We won entrance into the world's largest clean tech incubator (Elemental Excelerator), for whom we did a demonstration project to help ALICE (asset limited, income constrained, but employed) communities gain access to clean technologies. To date, the company has implemented efficiency services for more than homes and businesses, saving customers more than $8 million annually, and cutting more than 200 million pounds of carbon pollution. I'm a two time author. McGraw-Hill published my first book, Build a Green Small Business, in 2008 (out of circulation). I also published Green Living Ideas (2018), a book about greening the home.
