About Scott Copeland

I am an educator with a passion for accounting education and student success. My current role as a senior lecturer in Accounting enables me to continually seek out ways to improve the ways we educate and enhance the experience for both students and staff involved in tertiary and secondary education. My career began as a secondary school business teacher and I have remained committed to engaging with and contributing to this sector during my time at University. My work with the SACE Board on Accounting and with ACARA on the Australian National Curriculum for Economics and Business has allowed me to do this. My membership and involvement with Chartered Accountants - Australia and New Zealand enables me to work with current and future members on highlighting the variety of options a career in accounting can present. As the current co-chair of the AFAANZ Accounting Education Special Interest Group, I am excited by the opportunities I have to work closely with experienced and developing researchers in the field of Accounting Education and support them to share their insightful and impactful work. I am committed to continuing to develop the links between secondary schools and Universities to improve the access and transition for students, as well enhancing student outcomes at the University level and broadening their understanding of their pathways post University study.
