Currently member of the Illinois Environmental Testing Laboratory Association (IETLA) and the Environmental Monitoring Coalition's (EMC) Task Group Reevaluating EPA's Quality Control Frequency. Had a 40+ year career in the environmental field, both in the private sector (Analytical Chemist, Project Manager, Quality Programs Administrator, Sales Representative, Director of Quality Assurance) and with the USEPA's Superfund Analytical Services Branch (CLP) and Illinois EPA. Last position was as the Director of Quality Assurance for PDC Laboratories, Inc. in Peoria, Illinois. While at Illinois EPA's Division of Laboratories performed over 160 TNI NELAP (ISO 17025 based) laboratory assessments. Was engaged in all aspects of the laboratory accreditation program at the Illinois EPA. Prior to that, for thirteen years served as the DOL’s Divisional Quality Assurance Officer managing the Quality Assurance Program for a network of four state environmental testing laboratories. Coordinated the activities of QAOs at each state laboratory. While the Divisional QAO, also served on the Illinois EPA's Quality Systems Committee. Has a B.A. Degree in Chemistry and Biology, with Graduate School level coursework in Environmental Studies. Directly involved with the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) since 1995, serving as the Chair of the NELAC Quality Systems Committee. Served as a member of the NELAC Board of Director and involved in NELAC’s transition to TNI. From 2006-2015, was the Illinois EPA’s representative on the NELAP Accreditation Council. Served for ten years as an elected member of the TNI Board of Directors. Have also served on TNI's Laboratory Accreditation Systems Executive Committee and Chemistry Expert Committee (CEC). While on CEC participated in the developed of new MDL procedure, Calibration and DOC standard language. A speaker and trainer at Pittcon, EPA QA Conference, NEMC, WEF, TNI and state conferences on topics ranging from: How to Be an Effective QA Manager, Preparing for NELAP/ISO 17025 Audits, Performing Internal Audits, Data Integrity, Cost of Poor Quality, Continuous Improvement, Corrective Action, Handling Complaints, Regulatory Updates, Best Practices, PFAS and Laboratory Accreditation, Using Performance Metrics. Co-chaired NEMC sessions Best Management Practice for Environmental Laboratories and the 2025 NEMC Plenary Session. Has extensive experience and knowledge of quality management systems, accreditation, regulatory programs, UCMR, PFAS, laboratory operations and organizational improvement and change.
