About Scott Davis

Intellectual Property (IP) Technical Consultant with extensive experience in IP litigation, portfolio management, IP portfolio development, tech transfer and licensing. From my litigation experience with Microsoft, I've learned how to analyze patents both technically and legally. I've worked on some of the biggest IP litigation cases in history (i.e, Intertrust v. Microsoft). I can evaluate the strength of patent which directly affects the value of the IP. Importantly, I understand what it means from a legal eye versus a technical eye. I am also good at explaining this to engineers and scientists who do not necessarily appreciate the legal aspects of IP. As a Portfolio Analyst at Intellectual Ventures, I learned how to evaluate IP. This involved analyzing many different technologies and developing metrics to value IP. I worked with incredible people (Nathan Myhrvold, Edward Jung). I was employee #35 which was a great time to be at IV. Valuing IP can be challenging but I find it very rewarding. IP Portfolio Development is an area that I excel in. At APC, I worked with the CTO and Business Units to develop yearly IP goals. I Chaired the IP Council and trained engineers at 7 design centers all over the world. I have a solid understanding of the nuances of patent law. I work very well with attorneys, scientists and inventors and I strive to bring technical (or legal) understanding and focus to those with whom I work. In addition, I've had two of my own Startup's and therefore have a unique appreciation for the "bottom line" and the realities of business.
