17 years in the medical field as a Registered Nurse. Educated at one of the nation's most prestigious private BSN programs for nursing practice with day-1 clinical experience, graduating with several awards and serving as his class speaker. Specialized in Adult Critical Care Nursing and Nursing Informatics. Entered the fast-paced world of emergency nursing as a new gradudate in the Emergency Department (ED), in the region's only Level-1 trauma and burn referral center. Worked fastidiously within an interdisciplinary team to provide the best in patient outcomes and satisfaction across the continuum of care. Served as a charge nurse directing the provision of patient care in the ED on evening and night shifts. Spearheaded the department of emergency medicine's entry into observational medicine with the opening of its Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), an area within the ED dedicated to longer-term emergency care and prevention of unnecessary and costly full hospital admissions. Emerged as a tried and true leader in this area and became the unit's geriatric resource nurse, staffing co-coordinator, patient throughput liaison, nurse preceptor, and ultimately its patient care coordinator, a role demanding solid managerial skills and clinical leadership abilities to both assist in the unit's day-to-day operations and steer the unit toward continued clinical and financial success. Achieved unit goals by constantly improving staff engagement and improving patient satisfaction levels that were consistently higher than any other care unit within the organization.
