About Scott Fleming

Scott Fleming has been engaged in economic development and commercial real estate for over 25 years. He has led strategic planning efforts for large metropolitan areas, small communities, professional associations and nonprofit organizations. Some of his professional positions have included senior consultant at Prima Civitas, and vice president of economic development for Will County, Illinois, where he worked to expand businesses in the region. Fleming was also the chief executive officer for the DeSoto Economic Development Corporation (DEDC) in DeSoto, Texas. In that role, he was charged with revitalizing and expanding the local business community. Prior to joining DEDC, Fleming was the president and CEO of The Enterprise Group of Jackson, a countywide economic development agency in Michigan. He was responsible for leading economic development strategy, vision, direction and team development. He served on the board of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Jackson Magazine. He was also a board officer of the Michigan Economic Developers Association for several years and was elected president of that organization in 2011. Fleming has also held positions with DTE Energy as principal account manager, and with Land Company of Michigan as an economic development consultant. He received a Master of Science degree in Urban Planning and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University. He is also a certified economic developer, a certified professional community and economic developer, and holds a Michigan real estate license.
