Scott is a finance and accounting leader with extensive overseas work experience including eighteen years in the United States, with significant business travel in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, and eight years in China. Scott holds an inactive California CPA license, and a Masters Degree in Finance from Boston College. Scott's early career emphasized accounting, audit, and internal controls in a variety of industries. Upon joining IBM in 1998, the emphasis has been on financial and business management, serving as business unit CFO, including:* Overall financial advisory and support to business unit general manager.* Strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting.* Resource allocation, hiring, and expense management.* Internal controls assurance, and maintenance of audit-ready status.* Financial integration of newly acquired businesses and technologies.* Collaboration on creation and review of contract terms & conditions for complex client arrangements.* Management of finance managers and staff spread across multiple time zones and eight locations.* Periodic interaction with customers to assist with deal closure, and at marketing events. Scott's third most recent role while based in China included coverage of IBM's high growth software business in approximately 100 emerging market countries across Asia, Middle-East / Africa, and Eastern Europe. Scott has Mandarin Chinese language skills at the conversational level, and is able to read and converse in Mandarin on non-specialized general subject matter. Scott's CFO roles have centered on partnering with the business unit general manager to lead the business to deliver high quality revenue and profit growth.
