SCOTT HUBER Steam Turbine Repair & Maintenance Project Consultant for GAI Consultants, Inc. Retired Senior Consulting Engineer at FirstEnergy BS, Civil Engineering from University of Colorado, Boulder CO Ligonier, PA For more than 37 years, I have worked in the power generation field with a perfect safety record in the maintenance, operations support, and capital improvement of steam turbines, combustion turbines, generators, hydro turbines, pumps, and other rotating equipment. I have enjoyed the work immensely, following in the footsteps of my father who was also an engineer working on Power Transmission projects. He encouraged me to pursue an engineering career – and since I was good in math and science, it seemed a natural fit. Because I love the outdoors, I decided Civil and Environment Engineering would be the route for me, imagining I would be involved in big structural and infrastructure outdoor projects. As luck would have it, my first job was with Westinghouse as a steam turbine field engineer – a position at which I excelled. I left Westinghouse to join Allegheny Power which was acquired by FirstEnergy in 2011. Through it all, I managed to survive and thrive in the various corporate integrations. FirstEnergy has elected to exit the competitive power generation market and as part of this process I was offered a voluntary retirement proposal that I accepted effective December 1, 2018. I live with my wife Tina in Ligonier, a small mountain town in western PA. While we love the life we have built here, we are open to new locations and experiences. I am presently available to support clients with project management, shop surveillance, and technical consultation in support of rotating equipment outages and related projects. I am currently affiliated with GAI Consultants.
