About Scott Knerr

I have been blessed with a career as a Certified Athletic Trainer that has spanned three decades. I have worked as an ATC in an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic with assigned outreach to local high schools. I have also had the opportunity to work with various NCAA Division 1 athletic programs. I have built effective working relationships with coaches, athletes, parents, and outside medical providers. I have tried to be a loyal employee as I have only worked for three employers in my career. I believe that all athletes need to be heard and have a chance to be a part of the decision making process regarding their medical care. Listening is a skill that is so important when trying evaluate an injury or medical condition. One must also be able to ask appropriate questions when listening does not provide adequate information. Allowing for open ended answers to non leading questions leads to effective communication. Communication is vital in building trust and respect with athletes. It has been my pleasure to work with many great athletic trainers, administrators, coaches and athletes over the course of my career. I have tried to learn from those with whom I have worked. I feel that I have had a positive influence on the young professionals that I have supervised and mentored. I try to help others see the best of themselves and help them to achieve their potential. As I look to future employment opportunities, I am looking for a working environment in which I can continue to have an impact on those that I work with while continuing to grow and learn myself.
