About Scott Landry
At Acadia University, Scott uses his expertise and academic experiences in biology, mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering to study the fine details of human movement as it relates to understanding injury risk factors and performance enhancement in sport. In the past, Scott has conducted biomechanical and neuromuscular research in the footwear industry for companies such as adidas, NIke and Masai Barefoot Technology (MBT). Scott and his research team at Acadia have started to do some collaborative research with the adidas innovation team (ait) out of Portland Oregon and this is turning out to be a great fit with the entire Acadia Athletics Program now being equipped with adidas apparel and equipment. Scott also currently collaborates with a research group at Dalhousie University that focuses on mechanical and neuromuscular factors related to the progression of knee osteoarthritis. Scott was awarded a Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) grant in excess of to develop and build a Human Motion Laboratory in the Athletic Complex at Acadia University. This lab is called the John MacIntyre mLAB (motion Laboratory of Applied Biomechanics) and it is equipped with 19 Qualisys motion capture cameras, 3 AMTI force platforms, a Delsys Trigno wireless electromyography (EMG) system, a Treadmetrix instrumented force measuring treadmill and a Fusion Sport Smart Speed Pro electronic timing-reaction system. This lab has been operational since the summer of 2014. The mLAB's primary research focus is to use do neuromuscular and biomechanics analyses to identify risk factors for sporting injuries and furthering the understanding of the sex bias associated with knee injuries and osteoarthritis.
