About Scott Laplante

In May of 2013 I graduated from the University of Houston Law Center. My primary legal interests are in real estate, land development and construction law. I am interested in anything and everything having to do with the use of physical space for social, commercial and transportation purposes. I joined Smith-Roberts Land Services in September 2013 as a Right-of-Way Agent. Since then I have provided right of way acquisition, condemnation support, and title analysis and title curative services for several Texas Department of Transportation Projects. These projects include the expansion of IH-35E from Dallas through Corinth to Denton, the expansion and rebuilding of the Elysian Street viaduct on the northeast side of downtown Houston, and the SH183 Managed Lanes Project, a comprehensive development agreement project with Southgate Mobility Partners, LLC (expansion of State Highway 183 from Loop 12 in Dallas to Bedford. These projects have led to interaction and close collaboration with individuals from the TxDOT Right of way division East branch (Houston), the Strategic Projects Division of TxDOT, as well other professionals involved in the right of way acquisition project such as appraisers and attorneys with the State's Office of the Attorney General.
