About Scott Lightfoot

I am a driven, reliable and professional person looking to change career into the construction sector after spending some time at University. I believe my interest in working with tools and my developing skills give me a great opportunity to be a successful apprentice. I enjoy working to create a finished product and take pride in completing a task to the best of my ability. I can work comfortably alone or as part of a team under instruction or using initiative to get a job done, and will not shy away from asking questions or learning something new if there is something I am not experienced with. I have had varied experiences working alongside other people in retail and in education and strive to be the best I can in any role. I am currently seeking an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery with good career prospects. I also aspire to learn to drive to further enhance my employability.In my spare time, I currently enjoy gardening and maintaining my allotment. I work alongside my Grandad, who has lots of experience using tools and gardening. His vast experience in construction and the plant industry means he has a wealth of knowledge which he shares with me. I also currently do lots of woodwork in my garden, using basic hand tools and some power tools to dismantle pallets and build items such as storage boxes, bird boxes, dog sheds and other furniture that an fit well around the house. This new hobby, alongside a passion for working with tools, numbers and instructions, is what has led me to a new interest in carpentry and joinery. One of the most rewarding parts of gardening and woodwork is seeing the progress and hard work produce an end result, which gives me great satisfaction. In my spare time, I also like to listen to music, collect vinyl, learn songs on guitar and enjoy reading books about music and human psychology.
