About Scott Madar

An occupational safety and health professional with over 30 years of experience with state government, organized labor, and business consulting with Fortune 500 companies.Scott was one of the co-founders of ORCHSE Strategies, LLC a nearly 50-year old company that evolved from the Mercer and ORC Worldwide HSE Networks business, where he worked previously. After the sale of that business, Scott worked as the Senior Director for Membership Networks at the National Safety Council to ensure the successful integration of the business into the NSC.Previously, Scott has worked as an OSHA compliance officer in North Carolina and spent over 10 1/2 years working with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). While serving as the Assistant Director of the Safety and Health Department of the IBT, Scott had the opportunity to testify before three congressional subcommittees and the National Transportation Safety Board on a variety of transportation safety issues. He has also served as the chair of the Occupational Safety and Health Subcommittee of the Labor Research Advisory Committee for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Additionally, he served on the Commercial Truck and Bus Safety Synthesis Program of the Transportation Research Board for two terms. Currently, he served on the Transportation, Warehouse and Utilities Sector Council of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA).After Scott obtained his B.S. in biology from The College of William and Mary, he went on to earn his M.H.S. in industrial hygiene and safety sciences from The Johns Hopkins University. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). He regularly serves as a small group instructor at the George Washington University School of Public Health.
