Creative, strategic and adaptable actuary and leader, with over eighteen years' experience in Life and Wealth across superannuation, investments and retirement.Across various roles I have held in my career I have become a specialist in the retirement problem - how does someone efficiently use their retirement savings to support their lifestyle throughout their retirement given uncertainty about how long they may live? While I approach this problem like an actuary - building models of course - this job isn't done until I can cut through the complexity and deliver a solution to the problem that makes sense for the person who is retiring today.In my current role at TAL, I lead the Pricing & Investments team, part of the broader Growth, Retirement and Wealth division. My team does three things which complement each other and supports TAL's ambitions to grow its business- Design and pricing of retirement and longevity products- Actuarial and commercial oversight of TAL's heritage investment products, including participating products with capital guarantees- Monitoring and governance of the investment strategies underpinning our investment products.Throughout my career I have worked alongside people throughout the value chain, including distribution, customer service, IT and investment management, in order to drive towards the best customer and business outcomes.I started my career with Royal London in the UK in a variety of roles including valuation roles within Defined Benefits and later in unit-linked and with-profits valuation where I developed Prophet development and stochastic modelling skills. After qualification I took a new role providing actuarial support to Scottish Life's innovative unit-linked investment proposition. I reported to Royal London's Investment Committee on the performance and risk outlook of each portfolio, and I supported Sales by answering adviser questions on technical investment details. The highlight of this role was leveraging my stochastic modelling skills to develop a new set of investment portfolios designed for customers withdrawing a retirement income and supporting the launch by presenting at a series of seminars across the UK.After a six-month career break, I moved to Australia and spent three years in National Australia Bank's wealth division, where I developed a holistic view of the value chain of the investments business to drive better management decisions and helped achieve the Successor Fund Transfer of the MLC Superannuation Fund.
