About Scott McMillin

Scott has been working in technology for over 20 years. In 1997 he co-founded Hopscotch Media, a Web agency, and subsequently was co-founder of both ShopLocal and Timelines (2007). For ShopLocal he co-designed SalesHound.com, a consumer site aggregating local sales and specials, and the industry-leading SmartCircular which is now used by every major retailer in the country to present local, print-based promotions to consumers on the Web. For Timelines, Scott co-developed a number of consumer products including LifeSnapz.com, a site to help families record and share life events, Timelines.com, a site for discovering, recording, and sharing history, and Photogram, an iPhone app allowing users to easily and creatively share moments with friends and family (with over downloads so far). He also co-developed Timelines SE, a cost-effective service for newspapers to aggregate and present photos, videos, and articles about events to readers using timelines and maps (a finalist in the 2010 Chicago Innovation Awards). Timelines SE customers included Boston Globe, New York Daily News, Chicago Sun-Times, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and Minnesota Star Tribune. As an independent contractor he designed and developed solutions for Windstream Communications, Kraft Foods, Buena Vista International, Dow Chemical, First Analysis, and many other smaller companies. Scott's experience and wide-ranging skill set allows him to conceive, design, develop, and implement products from start to finish. From product development, user-centered design and usability, information architecture, visual and identity design to programming, and server administration and deployment, he's all you need to kickstart your product.
