About Scott McRae

I am the Specialist, National Corporate and Operational Health and Safety, with Defence Construction Canada. My leadership involves the positive promotion of workplace safety excellence, for our employee's, our client partner and the contractor's / consultant's that we work with. I have a passion for health and safety that I use to better our organizational safety culture, and local safety culture through volunteer efforts with the young worker awareness program, Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS - Chapter Volunteer Facilitator) and as a guest on our local Infrastructure Health & Safety Association's (IHSA) labour / management safety committee. My work with DCC has also afforded me the rare and fantastic opportunity to work across our great country, including work in the North to complete safety audits of several DEW Line clean-up sites in Nunavut. I have twenty-five years of health and safety experience in unionized and non-unionized construction and manufacturing environments in several Canadian Provinces & Territories as well as experience with OHSA while working with a United States company (CLOW Canada, a division of McWane). My experience includes regulatory enforcement as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer with the Alberta Government. I have been responsible for the management of several health and safety programs on large commercial, residential and demolition projects, as a construction safety consultant in the Greater Toronto Area with my first employer – Tickner & Associates Inc. I received my B.A.Sc. – Occupational Health and Safety, from Toronto Metropolitan University in April I am a Canadian Registered Safety Professional with in depth knowledge of Provincial and Federal Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
