Background
About Scott Muller
I believe the goal of education is to know precisely what all of our students need, and meet them there every step of the way. Strong core values, a clear mission, high expectations for staff and students, and an outstanding principal capable of advancing that vision can achieve that goal. I believe that fostering inclusion and awareness around multicultural education and taking a culturally responsive approach to leading and teaching benefits all students. A caring instructional leader will take a whole child approach to learning, which ensures that each student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and academically challenged. Not only does creating greater multicultural awareness and inclusion help students with different backgrounds and needs succeed, but it encourages acceptance and prepares students to flourish in our diverse society. I believe that the heart of a sophisticated competency-based learning system is a fundamental commitment to meet all students where they are. This requires that every member of the faculty and staff support students emotionally as well as academically; no matter how students arrive. In order to meet the needs of the whole student, collecting quantitative and qualitative data from the curriculum and school culture are critical for all staff members and students to: identify trends and prioritize concerns (performance data) determine root causes (process and perception data) set targets (immediate short term and long term) I believe that instructional leaders establish the culture of a school through their words and actions. Leaders empower and encourage others by maintaining integrity, as well as being visible and honest. Culture is built through every single interaction I have with students, staff, and families. Those interactions must be positive, supportive and inspiring to ensure that the mission, vision and student learning outcomes of a school are achieved.
