Throughout my entire Oil & Gas career, management has repeatedly commended me for preparing well-thought-out performance metrics, compiling monthly SH & E reports for leading & lagging indicators, and providing direction regarding continous improvement initiatives. The ultimate goal: Reduce on-the-job incidents in an ever changing work environment. By tracking the review of safe work practices, we measured how well our forecasts compared with actual results. Why are performance metrics useful? They illustrate trends as to how the company is performing from a safety perspective while also identifying areas in need of improvement. The lower the TRIF (Total Recordable Injury Frequency), the greater the likelyhood exists that doors will be open for future contracts, extra assignments, and busiiness-building opportunties. As a result, I believe that I have played an active role in my employer retaining contracts valued in the millions of dollars. My approach towards team building deserves special mention. For years, I have harnessed an ability to recruit the right individual for the job. By taking the time to determine the proper fit regarding client activity and operations, I am proud of the fact that some of those team members are still in place today. Even though the Oil & Gas industry has experienced considerable volatility, my team members are still gainfully employed in an industry that has went through considerable fall-out. In addition, I know that I have inspired my teams to WANT to do better: as a result, some have accepted positions of greater responsibility.
