About Scott Semple

I have worked in Magnetic Resonance Imaging research since 1996, awarded a PhD in cardiac MRI in 2001 at the University of Aberdeen and appointed to Chair of Medical Imaging and Physics in 2020. I continued to design, implement and manage novel imaging research in cardiac and oncology imaging in Aberdeen before returning to the University of Edinburgh in 2008 to set up the cardiac MRI research group in the Clinical Research Imaging Centre where I am now the Deputy Director of the facility. With this facility now part of the larger Edinburgh Imaging group, I continue to specialise in novel clinical imaging research using a combination of MRI, PET and CT scanning, and have published over 150 peer-reviewed articles in this field. A particular interest in novel MRI contrast agents has led me to develop new clinical applications in cardiovascular inflammation and viability.
