About Scott Shertzer

It’s always interesting to find out how people end up in certain industries and careers. If you would have told a 17 year-old me that I would one day work in supply chain, I would have looked at you with a perplexed look and ask “What is supply chain?”. However, if you would have said I would work in food manufacturing and specifically ice cream, I would thought that to be pretty cool. My journey to where I’m at today is certainly not recommended. Out of High School, attended Univ. of Alabama only to party my way out of college. Coming home from this experience, I expected to find a short-term job and go back to school to find my passion. Thirty-years later, I’m still at the same company albeit a different role. One thing I learned quickly when I started at Turkey Hill was I was interested in learning all the components of process and machine. More importantly, I questioned why we did the things the way we did them. This constant tinkering and experimenting (continuously improving) has been my career in a nutshell. It hasn’t always been a smooth and fun ride (made plenty of mistakes along the way), but I wouldn’t change a thing. After 25 years in operations, I moved to supply chain. Working with a great team of folks to get ice cream and teas into the customers hands has been challenging and fun. I don’t know where the next 15 years will go, but hopefully it is as entertaining, challenging, and fulfilling as the first 30.
