About Scott Snell

Scott Snell has nearly 20 years of professional experience working in the native plant realm. The majority of that experience has been as Study Leader at the USDA-NRCS New Jersey Plant Materials Center (NJPMC). His work at the NJPMC includes planning and implementing plant studies, authoring and developing technical publications, and coordinating with partners from academic institutions, state and federal agencies, and NGOs on mutually beneficial projects that achieve shared goals. Prior to his current role with USDA-NRCS, Scott contributed to a much more “boots on the ground" aspect of the native plant world as a member and leader of several invasive plant control teams with the National Park Service, the Student Conservation Association, and Invasive Plant Control, Inc. controlling a range of invasive plant species at Shenandoah National Park, Gateway National Recreation Area, and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Outside of his professional relationship with plants, Scott enjoys observing plants and natural areas while covering many miles running trails. Sometimes he even slows down or stops to take a closer look or grab a photo of a particularly interesting specimen or awe-inspiring sight.
