Background

About Scott Soderquist

On the path to becoming an Electrical Engineer, with anticipated graduation in 2026. My interests include UAV development in my free time, PCB development, and infrastructure that keeps the world running. I am dedicated to continuously learning and expanding my skills, aiming to apply my theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to create innovative solutions and make a positive impact. I am a fourth-year Electrical Engineering co-op student currently gaining experience in various facets of engineering. Most recently, I worked as a Student Defence Researcher with Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) from January 2024 to August 2024, developing EMI-resistant technologies for UAV applications and enhancing my hands-on skills with spectrum and network analyzers. Before that, I spent four months as a Search Coil Magnetometer Researcher at the University of Alberta’s CARISMA Lab, focusing on VLF magnetic wave measurements for sounding rocket missions. As Co-Vice President Academic and Services of the U of A's Electrical Engineering Club (May 2023 - April 2024), I expanded and taught workshops for the EECERT program, an initiative to equip second-year students with skills in breadboarding, Arduino, LTspice, and more, aligning with my passion for knowledge sharing and mentorship. I also regularly compete and help volunteer in design competitions, such as E2-C2 and the University of Alberta Engineering Competition, where I developed an AI-powered waste sorting system. Alongside these technical roles, I've accumulated valuable teamwork and leadership experience. I served as a core team member of the EcoCar project (September 2022 - November 2023), where I collaborated with a 12-member team to design, develop, and test critical components for a hydrogen-powered vehicle, working with Altium, SPICE, and CANBUS systems. I’m always open to connecting and discussing opportunities in electronics design, embedded systems, and UAV development. Let’s connect and explore potential collaboration!
