After living the tax challenges public accounting only talks about solving, I set out to create a solution. I was tired of hearing webinars full of ideas but not experiencing any real change. Armed with resolve, alike-minded business partners, and nearly two decades in the tax consulting world, I built a team to make a difference. Out of all the issues to tackle, one in particular drew my interest. We wanted to create a technology that made it easier for tax professionals to accurately manage sales and use tax. That’s how CypherTax was born. My cofounders and I recognized that, left to our own devices, we would likely build something too narrow and specific to our tax experience. So instead, we sought out the expertise of software professionals—people who really knew what they’re doing when it comes to building technology. When we combined our public accounting acumen with a software development mindset, we came up with something truly remarkable.
