About Scott Terry

I am a CPA, Certified Tax Coach, and Managing Member at TST Accounting, where we utilize our decades of experience in accounting, finance, operations, and information technology to help our clients succeed in their businesses. Our value proposition is this: We’ve been there. We’ve run small- and medium-sized businesses. We’ve negotiated with lenders and reported to investors, and we’ve carefully managed businesses through tough economic times. We’re more than happy to do your tax return at the end of the year, and we can take care of your payroll. But we can also act as an experienced advisor in many other areas of your business. Our clients are generally small- to medium-sized businesses that don’t yet have a Controller or CFO, but which have needs beyond tax returns and payroll. We work with these companies on traditional compliance activities (tax filings, etc.), but we also assist them with budgeting, forecasting, tax planning, banking relationships, and many other needs. My journey into the accounting profession has been somewhat unique, as I started my professional life as an Electrical Engineer in the software and computer hardware industries. After becoming interested in business and getting my MBA, I moved into engineering management and started working more closely with the Finance team at Hewlett Packard. I became more interested in the fields of finance and accounting, so I went back to school and got a Masters degree in Accountancy. At that point, I moved into the Finance organization within HP. Since then, I have gotten my CPA license and worked as a financial and accounting leader in several small- to medium-sized businesses. I started my solo accounting practice in 2010 while continuing to work full-time. In mid-2015, my new business partner, Charles Johnson, and I renamed the firm to TST Accounting, LLC, and we began working in the firm full time.
