Hanging out of the back of a Chinook helicopter while photographing a mock air assault in west Texas. Escorting a worldwide media contingent to a frigid gunnery range in Poland to observe multinational tank maneuvers. Now leading public relations for a rising, global Fortune 500 IT solutions integrator. My experiences as a corporate PR manager and former U.S. Army public affairs officer have landed me in the most diverse, complex work environments. I have overseen organizational communications for operations spanning 13 countries in Europe, as well as high-profile missions in Africa, Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf. I now lead a team of PR and social media professionals in growing brand recognition for a $8.7 billion enterprise in the ever-evolving technology industry. We create content and conversations to help simplify the complexities of how multicloud environments, data and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, modern infrastructure, applications, and the digital workplace meld to create powerful work experiences. Far more intrepid than anything I dreamed upon graduating from Arizona State's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and accepting my first job at a weekly newspaper in a sleepy Northern Arizona town. Yet I’ve embraced bold left turns — sharing goat kabobs with Afghans in the middle of a minefield, anyone? — while leveraging experience in print journalism for the first 10 years of my career into military public relations over the next 10. Then leaving the comfort zone of the perpetually uncomfortable military world to jump into corporate communications with a high-speed, innovative marketing team. Along the way, I’ve accrued leadership, editorial, and communications skills as distinct as the road I’ve traveled. My current role for Insight Enterprises oversees strategic public relations, social media management (including social influencing and social advocacy), relationship building, crisis management, corporate social responsibility and community outreach. It encompasses executive communications through speech writing, presentation development and producing creative content for our CEO, other senior leaders and technical experts. I also handle brand image and reputation management, hosting media and identifying market trends for a company with a broad portfolio of end-to-end technology solutions and services. We help clients manage their day-to-day IT needs while inspiring them to be ambitious about digitally transforming for future prosperity.
