Scott brings to the table 20+ years of solid experience in leading health and safety programs, systems, and practices, as well as 24 years in firefighting and emergency response experience in providing emergent and routine care services, with a reputation for being a positive influence as a Seasoned Oil and Gas Industry Leader. He strategically collaborates with key personnel, contractors, and stakeholders for the improvement of health and safety culture development integral to achieving business objectives. Scott was born in Barrhead, AB, Canada and presently resides in Whitecourt, AB. Being a first responder firefighter and medic, Scott is passionate about helping the communities and people in times of crisis. This passion is tied to his career in health and safety as he ensures everyone who responds to a call works hard, stays safe, and goes home at the end of the day. This rolls into his career choice as he becomes very much part of the operations team and personally knows the staff, which allows him to reach that inner person when they want to shortcut the process. If the inner person can understand why they need to do things the way they are done, then they understand why he wants them to succeed. Scott enjoys the freedom to have an office day and head out to the field on other days to interact with the staff. He appreciates the challenges as they keep his mind busy. He enjoys developing a program and implementing it while getting the team engaged in the system from start to finish. On the educational front, Scott has continuously developed himself by attending various safety and trade-related courses and training. A few of the key skills that Scott brings forward include critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, time management, and communication skills. Scott strongly believes that success depends on the value of strong working relationships, built on integrity, safety, and security. Scott continues to be focused on improving his position as a leader, developing his skills in health and safety management. He takes personal satisfaction in tackling new challenges with a competitive edge as he advances his career within an ever-changing industry. He welcomes positions in alignment with his present career ambitions, such as an HSE Advisor, Firefighter Officer, or Emergency Manager.
