Background

About Sean Baxter

Computer and internet professional. Started from the ground up as a child using an Atari 800XL, followed up with a Northgate 386. Then built my own computer with a Celeron 300a CPU and over clocked it. I started my career leading up to the summer of my freshman year in highschool at South High school in Minneapolis, one of the physics teachers asked if I wanted to help work him over the summer on a project funded by a NSF grant at the University of Minnesota's Laboratory for Computational Science and Engineering. A project to teach secondary school kids computational method, how to use computers to solve tough problems, and so I became a computer lab assistant. Later in life I worked for a white box computer manufacturer General Nano Systems, handling inventory and return merchandise. I proved myself shortly and acted as a capable salesman and technician, quickly understanding what customers were intending to do, what they needed to make that happen, then making it all happen. I moved to work to work for a local internet service provider in Minneapolis, Visi.com. I started at the help desk, assisting users in getting connected to the internet via telephone and DSL modems, along with helping them configure email clients and web clients. I managed customer domain zone files, and VISI's APRA zone files. I would open tickets with AT & T and COX when notified of outages. I moved into a senior position and further moved into the network operations group, maintaining Visi's customers' dedicated servers. I moved into a development and was responsible for the creation of a webportal which would allow customers to manage their domains' DNS entries. I started working with Symantec after they acquired Veritas to support the Veritas NetBackup product suuite, protecting customers' data. I remain with Veritas after the recent divestiture to the Carlyle Group. Moving forward I'm interested in leveraging my leadership skills in working with a software development team.
