About Sean Chao

I build end-to-end data solutions to help organizations optimize and scale. I thrive in work that is highly cross-functional, data-driven, and grounded in user needs. I’m currently focused on helping Block grow and advance its mission of economic empowerment through data and AI tooling enablement.Previously, I led a data science team at Apple, focusing on enhancing Apple Services (App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, etc) by evaluating and improving AI/machine learning features. Recent notable focuses include human-in-the-loop model development, LLM evaluation and alignment, AI safety, and data quality assurance. Before Apple, I helped Airbnb build trust on the platform and developed advertising products at eBay. Before that, I was a physicist studying molecular dynamics and developing next-generation DNA sequencing devices.
