About Sean Cooper

Most dev teams have the talent to ship great software. They're missing the systems.I'm the Director of Software Development at American Marketing & Publishing, where I've led engineering teams through real turnarounds. Most recent results: 3.5x capacity growth and 80% reduction in unplanned sprint injection — without adding headcount.I've spent 20+ years in software development and engineering leadership. The pattern I keep finding is the same: the teams that ship the best software aren't the ones with the best developers. They're the ones with the clearest processes, the strongest standards, and leaders who remove friction instead of adding ceremony.Right now I'm focused on the intersection of engineering leadership and agentic AI development. The teams that learn to pair disciplined leadership practices with AI-powered workflows are going to have a significant capacity advantage over the ones still debating whether AI is ready for production.I write about this at yourdevteamcoach.com and publish open-source AI coding tools at github.com/sean-m-cooper/ai_tools.If you lead engineering teams and want to ship more without burning people out, that's exactly what I write and coach on.
