About Sean Dattore

To derive a plan for the complex problems of today, an Engineer needs not only the technical skills (CAD, Analysis) but a communicative ability, a creative mind, and a set of strong problem-solving skills to arrive at a constructive solution. As a recent graduate I’ve been well equipped with a set of technical skills and an engineering toolkit to be used to solve complex problems. Through my early efforts in high school as the team captain for the FIRST Robotics competition to the interdisciplinary projects I have completed in college, I have merged skillsets to formulate plans and derive solutions that are functional, reliable, usable, safe, manufacturable and marketable. For my Senior Design Project our team was tasked with creating a deorbiting method for a CubeSat Satellite in the Lower Earth Orbit. This task was chosen and suggested by my team to address the sustainability problem of satellite debris and the future viability of space exploration. Through our team’s efforts - working together, letting our imaginations flourish - we were able take a step towards solving this difficult problem. I worked to create a mathematical model for satellite lifetime in the Lower Earth Orbit using MATLAB. Using Creo, coupled with our engineering analysis we designed tested and verified our prototype based on a list of requirements derived from our customers and our knowledge of orbital debris. This project represents my immense love to be challenged, allowing me to work with others for new creative, and efficient solutions to problems.
