About Sean Gerner

As a business development executive and broadband strategist, I specialize in bridging the digital divide through innovative partnerships that scale connectivity to underserved communities, especially in public and affordable housing. I currently lead the Apartment Wi-Fi program at EducationSuperHighway, where I direct national strategy to expand broadband infrastructure and deploy Wi-Fi in multi-dwelling units (MDUs). My work centers on collaboration with state broadband offices, property owners, ISPs, and technology vendors to unlock funding, streamline deployment, and ensure communities, regardless of zip code, have access to reliable, affordable internet. Previously, I spent two decades in the telecom industry, leading high-performing sales and business development teams. At Lumen Technologies, I helped launch Instant Wi-Fi in competitive markets, securing over $20M in revenue. At Sprint, I managed $15M+ in annual budget and oversaw more than 150 retail and dealer locations, developing new market entry strategies and scaling revenue. I thrive at the intersection of technology, policy, and impact, using my expertise in public-private partnerships, connectivity strategy, and infrastructure to turn vision into results. I’ve also had the opportunity to share this work on stages nationwide - from Broadband Communities Summit, NDIA NetInclusion, and Mountain Connect to state broadband summits, federal policy roundtables, and broadband podcasts.
