For the longest time, I’ve been a man who knows how to get things. Not contraband like Red in Shawshank Redemption, from where I completely stole that line, but information in my hybrid role as knowledge manager and the point person for a proposal help desk. If you need approved response content, I can get it for you. If there is not any available, I know who in my network of subject matter experts to reach out to so you have what you need. If you want client or employee data, I can pull it from reports at my fingertips. If it is something really complex, I get it via the data specialists in my network of experts. For over a decade, I have managed requests for all sorts of information about my employer, managing the workflow to ensure my colleagues who needed assistance got the best information available to meet their deadlines. I take pride in my ability to manage my time and adapt to the unpredictable flow of requests I receive. I engage with these colleagues in need, ensuring I provide them with whatever they require, be it straightforward or obscure. I know firsthand that you cannot leave questions unanswered, whether they are from clients in proposals or fellow colleagues working on internal projects. Because before I became “Red,” I was just Sean, a proposal writer/manager trying to fill in all the blanks before submitting a response to an RFP. This experience has helped me not only understand the urgency of requests, but also the need to provide the best content I can to ensure colleagues have the best response possible and not just filler. Due to the changing financial landscape of my employer, however, I have reached a crossroads. At the end of September, Red is being “paroled” but not in a good way. So, if you are looking for someone with knowledge management skills and proposal experience who can also collaborate with your team to meet both client and deadline requirements, please consider me. The only thing I cannot provide is a voice like Morgan Freeman’s, but then who really can?
