I’m currently working as a consultation ornithologist & marine mammal specialist on a project in Kazakhstan. However, I am available for other work as an ornithologist, as well as MMO/MFO/PFO/PAM and Environmental Science fieldwork and land-based ecology field work.I'm an ESAS-accredited seabird surveyor and JNCC approved marine mammal observer and PAM operator. I’ve carried out professional & voluntary marine mammal and seabird surveys, as well as worked as a lead MMO, PAM operator, PSO and MFO around the UK, Bay of Biscay, Mozambique Channel, Tanzania, Myanmar, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Guinea, Black Sea & Caspian Sea.I have a professional interest & have used some remote sensing technology for ecological survey purposes, e.g. avian radar, hi-definition cameras, underwater cameras T&C pods), high-definition cameras on planes, drones, ships & offshore platforms. In addition I have used a variety of visual & acoustic technology e.g. lasers, PAM, bubble curtains, ADD’s etc. for mitigation in dredging, marine construction, piling, UXO,(pre-)decommissioning, pipeline routes, etc.I also work as an environmental scientist. I’ve worked on projects in the UK, Norway & Myanmar I’ve carried out habitat assessment using video transects & photography using ROV and submersible camera systems, grab sampling (with a range of grabs/cores) for macrobenthic faunal and chemical analysis, water sampling, CTD dips, plotting sampling sites/transects using Surfer and field reports.I’m training as a bird ringer & I’m also working towards gaining accreditation for reptile and amphibian surveys, small mammal surveys, phase 1 habitat surveys & bat surveys.I’ve worked on many voluntary surveys on marine mammals, seabirds, raptors, nightingales, house martins, owls, waders and waterfowl & otters for the BTO, Suffolk Wader Strategy group, WEBS, Marinelife, MIGRES and ARRCN among others in the UK, Spain and Japan.
